A travel advisor will help you plan your trip to Iceland, especially if you're looking for a hassle-free trip or a customized travel experience. Here is my reasoning in one sentence:

Travelers don't know, what they don't know.

The average person spends 40 hours searching online. Some get it done, others give up. Some have a great time on the trip but never knew what hidden gems they missed. Others have some issues along the way.

Here is a little secret:

Anyone can book travel.

But what kind of experience you have both before the trip and while on the trip is important. My clients come to me because they just don't have time or desire to deal with it, they are overwhelmed by the options, and they value my expertise. There is so much information online, good bad, and ugly. It's hard to know what to choose so it takes time to sort through all the information out there. Then there is AI (artificial intelligence) which sorts through the aforementioned good, bad, and ugly and puts it all together into a neat little package not knowing if it is good, bad, or ugly.

The ideal is an experienced travel advisor that has been to Iceland and experienced it. Next, an advisor that has not been there but studied the destination, knows travel, and knows what to look for, what to do, and can also provide a quality experience. Fortunately for me, I'm the former, and let me tell you Iceland is amazing!

Benefits of using a travel advisor for your Iceland trip may include:

Personalized Service

Travel advisors can find the best tour or cruise for your taste or build and tailor your trip to your personal preferences and needs, Whether you're looking for luxury accommodations at the Blue Lagoon or a hotel in town, adventure activities, or a budget-friendly itinerary with lots of free time, the travel advisor is there to meet your needs. Your travel advisor will also let you know that a budget-friendly stay a the Blue Lagoon is not possible. They will advise you on what is reasonable to meet your budget.

Expertise

A good travel advisor will study destinations like Iceland, get certifications when available, and learn as much as they can about the destination. Specialists have in-depth knowledge about Iceland and can provide you with insider tips and recommendations that you might not find online. Specialists will also build relationships with suppliers in the destination, visit the locations when possible, and use the suppliers for first-hand knowledge.

Iceland is an amazing place with so much to offer and a variety of ways to see it. Cruise Ship, Coach Tour, Custom Hotel Stays, and Hybrid trips are all options. An advisor will help you understand what will work best for what you are wanting to do. Hotels abound both standard Icelandic Hotels (think IKEA), Luxury, and unique. What you want to do will determine where you stay and for how long. When you go also depends on what you want to do since the weather is a major consideration. If you want Puffins, for example, you are not going in the winter but it's a great time for northern lights. If you get seasick, maybe whale watching is not on the agenda. To make this trip memorable, you'll need to commit to an initial consultation with your travel advisor to learn about your travel style and what you want to do.

Time Savings

Planning a trip to Iceland can be time-consuming as mentioned above, but a travel advisor will take care of all the research and details for you, including reminders and payments. For my clients, I even send weekly Iceland information to help them prepare for the trip. I also write blogs and create videos on the must-see sights, places to eat and drink, and words of wisdom when visiting Iceland.

Coordinating a Group of Friends

Group travel is extremely time-consuming and very stressful to do on your own. Travel advisors are used to working with groups and group contracts. Yep, there is a contract with suppliers if you form a group. Your travel advisor will fill you in on the contractual obligations and due dates. Believe me, groups can offer savings and extra perks, but they can also be tedious. I'm sure you don't want to be the one hounding your friend to make payments on time so they don't lose the reservation, tell you what room requests they have, advise you on allergies, view, smoking, and so on. Iceland is a great place for groups and they can be done in a few ways but let the travel advisor do it so you don't have to.

Support

Before the trip I offer a pre-trip call for any final questions. Although rare, if something goes wrong during, the trip, such as a flight cancellation or a change in your itinerary, travel advisors can help you navigate the situation and find a solution if one is not presented to you in the country. My phone is always open for clients that are traveling.
